Physician Liaisons – Your Relaunch & Recovery Plan

2020-04-03T01:08:00+00:00

During COVID-19, where should we focus our efforts?  Should we focus on the now, on the later, or both?  Whatever the answer, then how can we plan to be more effective and value-added than ever before? This week we’re allowing you to jump in briefly to our weekly leadership round table discussion, as we discuss what we’re seeing with our physician liaison teams and organizations around the country, along with our recommendations on how to prepare a relaunch and recovery plan. Check out the full roundtable discussion. Also, check out the new blog from our COO and thought-leader Tommy Tiller.  He brings super relevant and implementable concepts. https://youtu.be/t3DQIZzBI3o

Physician Liaisons – Adding Value in Time of Crisis

2020-03-26T17:00:44+00:00

Stuck in the office or working from home? With COVID-19 protocol in full effect and social distancing our new reality, most of you have been pulled out of the field and are trying to find ways to stay productive and vital to your organization. While growth strategies and outreach programs are likely low on the priority list for leadership this month, there is still PLENTY of valuable work that you can all do! In this week’s Friday From the Field video, Alicia Sanchez, Physician Liaison from Presbyterian Healthcare Services, explains a few things she’s been doing to add value to leadership, her organization, and most importantly, what she’s doing to prepare for life after COVID-19. https://youtu.be/SlGRx_gK6uQ

Physician Liaisons: Share this News about Telehealth, Medicare and COVID-19

2020-03-24T22:12:39+00:00

Guest Author: Amy Ballance CMS has temporarily expanded Medicare coverage for telehealth services as part of the President’s emergency declaration to ensure that all Americans can maintain access to healthcare. Now is the time that a physician practice should consider how telehealth will benefit their patients, staff, and business. Physician liaisons deliver value to providers in so many different ways, and this is one. You can bring or send helpful updates on the expanded coverage and rules emerging during this crisis. These telehealth policy changes come at a time when we must take precautions to manage unnecessary exposure to those who may be vulnerable during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. We are so appreciative of the physicians, midlevel providers, nurses and other direct caregivers who are sacrificing their families’ needs for the greater good, but we want our healthcare resources to work smarter not harder! Here is a link to the CMS website that explains the telehealth coverage changes further: MEDICARE TELEMEDICINE HEALTH CARE PROVIDER FACT SHEET It includes a Summary Fact Sheet that can be modified as a leave behind or emailed to [...]

Someday has Arrived – Things to do Before You Return to the Field

2020-03-20T00:57:07+00:00

Just one week before the Coronavirus hit hard – and social distancing was our new reality - I was out in the field with Michelle McMillan, Physician Liaison & Assistant Director of Physician Services from Children’s Mercy Hospital. What we uncovered is super relevant to work we can be completing during our quarantine. Use this time for the “someday” projects. Today is someday – and what you’re doing now will better prepare for your return to the field. Listen to this week’s Friday from the field video, as two of us “seasoned” liaisons rode together demonstrating we ALL can find more, do more, learn more ways to deliver value.. It’s true …we’re either green and growing or ripe and rotting!  Be #QuarantineProductive. Let’s Talk Carbs

2020-03-09T21:46:17+00:00

In honor of National Nutrition Month - let's talk about a yummy, but often debated topic…CARBS! In this month's Make YOU Matter, our Health and Wellness Coach, Andrea Curless tells us why all carbs are not created equal. She’s not just talking about it, she is literally in the kitchen, in full demonstration mode to show you real examples. I love how she compares foods that many of you road warriors have in your car right now! Spoiler alert:  She cuts to the chase about how we can and SHOULD incorporate carbs in our diet. Check it out. https://youtu.be/1bCCHgfwwak

The Journey of a New Liaison

2020-03-12T01:30:13+00:00

Do you remember the excitement and energy of being a new liaison? I certainly do – best job ever! In this week’s (part 1 of 2) Friday from the Field, you will meet Brittany Lawson - one of our newest liaisons.  Brittany is the Pediatric Liaison for Presbyterian Hospital, Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has taken the critical first steps in becoming a superstar liaison – TRAINING (fondly referred to as the boot-camp). After she completed the onsite bootcamp, the last training step was taking a road-trip to shadow another super-star Tiller-Hewitt trained liaison team at Dayton Children’s. While there, she participated in a new physician hospital tour, gathered sample referral collaterals/tools, shadowed liaisons in the field calling on targeted providers and overall saw how pediatric physician liaisons have fun while working super hard. PSA – Distractions Are Literally Killing Us

2020-03-12T01:38:52+00:00

Distractions – Distractions! What are your weapons of mass-distraction? With all the demands on our time, we’re always trying to manage our time more effectively and efficiently.  At any given time, most of us look like an Olympic level juggler. I fondly refer to that as trying to stuff 50 pounds into a 5 pound bag. Sound familiar? This week’s video is more of a life-saving Public Service Announcement about our endless distractions atop two proven human limitations that governments around the world have spent billions trying to remove. Psychologists suggest combining distractions with these limitations are literally killing us. It brings a whole new meaning to work smarter not harder! https://youtu.be/bOlUlOF8I3g

You Have One Job

2020-03-12T01:42:33+00:00

In this Friday from the field week’s video, Jamie Utt discusses a recent “snack dilemma” with her son and it reminded her how much it relates to being a physician liaison. If you have kids or know any, you know how seriously they take their snacks. Take a look as Jamie humorously reminds us to never stop looking at our role from the office staff and provider’s perspective. Often times, when an office calls us we aren’t able to answer. If we take too long to return the call, they may get antsy because in their mind, we had ONE job…THEM! ONE MORE THING - don’t forget next week is FACEBOOK LIVE for our next Friday from the Field! Make sure to like us on Facebook so hopefully you’re notified when we go live at 9AM (CT). We have a dream team of six liaisons going live with us. Don’t miss this awesome opportunity to get answers to your burning questions. Snack time, Tammy Tiller-Hewitt https://youtu.be/l-0G7I45juA
